Nation in Conversation takes a look at production of milk

As always show hosts Rozanne and Theo get things going with a look at tourists attractions, and this time the cameras go to Henley on Klip and Meyerton for breath-taking fun and adventures at Basslake Adventures. Owner, Alan Pepper explains how the former dolomite quarry has earned a reputation as one of the world’s best known scuba diving training facilities.
 
Back in the studio, Rozanne talks to Prof Elain, Manager Corporate Services, Clover Mama Africa Trust. Prof Elain explains why this incredible project has was awarded the best CSI Project in 2017, an accolade the trust has won for the third time.
 
Thereafter the cameras go to the Juna Dairy near Henley on Klip where farm manager Jurie Hartley tells us that a passion for animals makes all the difference in producing quality milk from their 700 dairy cows. 
 
We also visit the Clover cheese processing plant in Lichtenberg where General Manager, Sarel Swanepoel takes us through the process of cheese production and the quality control measures in place at the plant.
 
Back in studio, Nation in Conversation regular Dr Ferdi Meyer of BFAB, chats to Rozanne about how the fact that there are less milk producers currently producing more litres per year, impacts the industry.
 
Show co-host Theo Vorster rounds off the show with a chat to Dr Chris van Dijk, CEO of the Milk Producers Organisation of South Africa, who explains why the milk industry is volatile and the factors that bring about this volatility.
